Hooray! Palmer finally has its first ever winter-long farmers market!
It’s always been difficult getting fresh, local grown produce in Alaska. Everything is flown in from all over the US and the world. You never really know just what sort of GMO, pesticides or chemicals have been used on the food you’re eating.
I adore the “Friday Fling” in downtown Palmer, Alaska during the summer. Local produce, handmade products and artwork are beautiful to see. Now we have a winter option!
The “Mat Su Farm Market” began yesterday. It will be every Monday now until May 5 at the Palmer Train Depot, 11am to 7pm. (2015- NEW TIMES 12-6) The hubby and I stopped in to see what kind of goodies we could find!
The vendors included:
Alaska Sprouts, from which we bought some Spicy Salad sprouts for my aunt.
Bushes Bunches, from which we bought a beautiful stalk of Brussels sprouts.
Moonlit Lake Garden, from which we bought some red fermented veggies.
Voodoo Chocolates, from which I bought some delicious candied orange/ cranberry chocolate (Yum!!!)
Other vendors in attendance were:
Alaska Vegan and Gluten Free
Coba’s Plant Care
I was so happy to not only support fellow Alaskans, but to get all these tasty treats! Looking forward to next Monday!
